The Prata Place

Breakfast on a Sunday morning! :) Had prata at my favorite place :) Ordered the egg and onion one with some chicken curry.

Then prata's standard still there! Crispy and good. The onion adds a hint of sweetness to the prata. AND THE CURRY DAMN SHIOK. I actually love the mutton one but my family hardly eat mutton so no choice.. I wouldn't wanna finish it myself.

Oh yes and I love their iced teh cino! Some places do it too sweet.

Random

If you dont alr know, i'm FINALLY starting work on Monday! Trimmed my nails few days back and removed the nail polish :)

Kinda unhealthy looking nails i have. But this is the shortest i could trim it alr. SO, IT'S NOT I HAVE LONG NAILS OKAY??? It's just that my nail bases are longgg.

And currently on these iron tables and vitamin for my skin and flu med. I hate the taste of the iron tablets and it gives me rather bad tummyache EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Non-bake Cheesecake

Okay finally i'm less lazy and a first non-backdated post.

Two days ago popped by the supermarket after dinner to get some ingredients.

All these freaking cost $18 WTH. Seriously i think it's more economical to just buy cheesecake outside, just that you wouldn't know what they use right?

Sooo... i made them yesterday. It's quite easy i think? Dont ask me for recipe, i dont have one. I only know these are the ingredients i have to use and i just agar everything. Didnt use any measuring equipment at all. Can tell that i'm a nonchalant person right? Even when it comes to this lol. But if you really need one, go google or just use the one they provide with the cheese?

Oh and sugar is not in the pic. Wa, add in sugar i think cost price $20?! For smth this... SMALL

Set them to refrigerate. And tasted them last night, and again today.

I think it's damn nice :P Yes, i'm praising myself.

TTSH

Went to meet my nyp good friends after my second chicken pox vaccination.

Had my fav food from ttsh's kopitiam. The wanton mee!

I think it's damn nice leh. Dont know is it because i always had it during breaks when i was a student or what. But i missed it quite a bit so i went back to have it! The chilli damn nice. And i seldom eat chilli if you dont alr know.

I think my shorts really damn pretty :P Yeah it's from F21 and it has a story. I saw it online and ordered it cos i didnt think that sg's stores would carry it. (I hardly shop at F21 to be honest) Then i read somewhere that it's sold in sg's stores so i feel damn cheated! I havent gone to check out the price in sg's stores though. I hope it wont be any cheaper if not i'll be angry! Anyway i think this shorts would have been better if it's of a lighter shade of blue. Dont trust pictures next time!

Got home to two bags of ASOS clothing and a watch. Happy that they've finally arrived but sian because i couldnt fill them out well. OH WELLS. Love them too much to give it up and they've run out of stock for smaller sizes/petite. Just my luck!

And dad bought us dinner, this is horfun from huayuwee. YAY! Love the texture of the sup kum horfun. I hardly eat the ingredients cos... i just dont like?

Red Shorts.

I think my red shorts totally deserves a post on its own. Because it's really one of my favorite, nvm that it's one of the more expensive shorts i own, it's in bright red, AND IT'S ILL-FITTING.

I love the roll up details at the bottom. Okay i know not very clear but heck. It's a collection by Amy Winehouse for Fred Perry. I have to admit that i hardly listen to her songs. But i absolutely LOVE her collections for Fred Perry!!! Another item of hers that i have is a shirt. I've not figured out what to pair it with so... i'll just let it sit in my wardrobe longer :)

Wore this to go shopping la. (To be more specific, it's just to shop at La Senza and Forever New) I thought clogs would have gone well with this outfit but clogs are... a little yesteryear and heavy to go shopping in. So... oh wells. I would wear them some day too!

Spicy Nuggets

My favorite is back! If only it can permanently be on the menu! YES SPICY NUGGETS!!! I wish i could buy packs of it and store them in my freezer! :)

Reese's

Brother brought this back the other day. I think it's quite nice! It's white chocolate and honestly it's not THAT sweet as i'd expected it to be! It's quite easy on the tastebuds and yes, the sweetness is kinded neutralized with the salty peanut butter :)

Percy Pigs

Brother bought me some of my favourite pigs :D

They are cute and they are yummy :D

Party!

Out to party at Zouk! Supposed to meet at 10pm and i had wanted to go at 11pm. Then i so bored that i reached at 9+ LOL enthu max. Anyway i think my lace top very pretty :P And my face looks fat, as usual.

Drank quite a bit in the longest time ever but wasn't high at all. YET i'm nursing a headache, flu and sore throat now. What on earth is this?? Signs of old age :(

Avalon Makeover

Okay so last night got down to Avalon for some drinks and all the makeover :)

This is after it all. I think i look.. 35. Like married with two kids that kind. The hairstylist gave me some wavy curls and i really think the hair is okay, because i've always wanted curls but never had the guts to get them! But the make up was too much, really instantly added like 10 years or smth.

So anyway here is the nails i did too. I really like this color. I think it's called better de-getter. It's like silver based but has these specks of copper in it, absolutely stunning!

But too bad, i'm gonna start work soon, so had to remove them.

And of course, we didnt stay in Avalon for long. We went back to our old place and i bumped into my secondary school friend who only rmbs yh's name. Tsk.

Pitter Patter Raindrops.

Been doing backdated entries, getting a little tired. This is the 28th post. It only had 14 when i started to revive it. Published it today because i finally CAME UP WITH A NEW LINK.

I wanted "in my footsteps" but it was taken and so were the other variations i thought of. "my itchy feet" taken up too, so here's it-my tickly feet. Means itchy feet also, always moving around, cannot stay still in one spot. Be it to shop, eat or do nth LOL. Quite apt, right?

Gonna start work next week and i guess from then on i probably wont have much to blog about food. There's nth really nice to eat at my work place and i've to eat them for three year sooo... sigh. I wish there would AT LEAST be fastfood. If i bother to update, it would most likely be filled with OOTD posts. LOL

Anyway my initial proposed start date was 2nd. Then it got pushed to the 9th and because i didnt clear the medical checkup, i'll start on the 16th. Awesome.

Had dinner with my family at Thai Express, and i ordered my ALL TIME FAVORITE there :)

This is my favorite. The black pepper glass noodles. This is the one with the crayfish. They have it with soft shell crab too, and i order based on my mood. I've always been saying that i wanna try cooking this myself but i've never gotten around to doing it. I think it's too much of a hassle so... just eat it there!

The family ordered a couple of other stuff. Otah with seafood and kangkong. I kinda like the Otah :)

Welcome back to Phuture.

On a weekend. First weekend partying in 2012! Old alr, body cannot take it. More importantly i've not urge to party anymore. Like last time is "eh let's go!", but now is "huh tired leh" or "okay lor let's go". LOL big diff right?

Anyway lao di fang, so no need dress up.

Zero makeup. Except transparent lip gloss, if you wanna count that as make up.

Don't know if it's obvious enough but my top very chio. There are crystals sewn on to the front, and the back is button down with pearls. And that's not all. The purpose of the above shot is to feature the midriff baring lace portion of the top! How chio :D

Revived.

I woke up this morning and felt VERY INSPIRED to revive this space. I've kept blogs since secondary school and in recent years my blog posts got too emotional i stopped it altogether. And then this very morning, i decided to maintain an unemotional blog which basically just chronicles my daily life. What i eat, what i buy, what i wear, what i read, and where i go :)

Won't be including any prices in almost all of my posts here, but rest assured everything is affordable! In any case, feel free to ask me if you really have to know.

So i'm gonna do up a couple (A LOT) of backdated posts. This blog has only been active from 4/12/2010 - 9/4/2011, what a short lifespan. Shows how fast i got bored lol.

And if i have the time, i would do travelogues as well. IF i have the time. I'm starting work soon and idk why i only feel inspired NOW.

Life's a beach. Eat, lounge, be merry! ;)

That's for the beach holiday i never got to go on. And i wrote it somewhere for the Zoukout i nv got to go last year. I think Twitter. Anyway yes, i have a Twitter account. You can follow me, but i can't promise i'll accept.

Ciao!

Herbal Chicken

It's just one of those zi char nights. Haven't been here in a very long time, so decided to have dinner here along bukit timah road i think. Beside this car show room, i think cherry road/ave.

Can't rmb the name of this place, but it's easy to find. There's only one zi char stall there and it's beside this pub-ish place called empirical.

I like the herbal chicken and i had both drumsticks :D Oysters on the omelette very fresh. Sambal kangkong full of flavour and hotplate venison very soft! Like melt in the mouth type!

Lay's Cucumber and Texas Grilled BBQ.

Bought these two packets because of the interesting flavours. The cucumber flavour is actually quite nice as long as you dont keep harping on the cucumber taste. If you get what i mean? Like dont keep thinking of the fruit and its taste.

The Texas Grilled BBQ is okay also. I think it's nice. A little like the Peking Duck flavour one that i bought in BKK, featured in this post.

Family night.

One fine Wednesday i had some time to kill, so i got myself a drink (fav drink of the moment) to quench my thirst while i shop around ion.

Green tea w rock salt cheese! I classify this under my "pregnant lady taste". I've mentioned on my twitter many times that my tastes and preferences have skewed towards a pregnant lady's. Or i should say that a person's taste in food would "mature" as well? For instance, i dont drink milk tea now, i like tea without sugar and i dont like mayo anymore. I used to LOVE caramel milk tea, mayo and tea with 3/4 sachets of sugar!

Then went into Muji to stock up on snacks.

The red bean pancake very nice! So is the jam puff. The smallest packet is sour plum. TOO SOUR. Was tempted to buy their pasta sauce but i also dont cook, aiya dilemma.

We had intitally agreed to have dinner at Grand Hyatt and finally decided on Pete's Place after much persuasion. My dad doesnt like italian food :/ Anyway i was quite surprised that the place was pretty empty! What a pity. I would love to eat there every other day simply because i like traditional italian pasta.

Like almost all other times, i'd alr checked the menu online. So i had the set dinner with vongole as the main course. There's a salad bar for us to make our own salad. I must say that the mushrooms were particularly juicy and yummaye! Dad had catch of the day, mum had chicken and brother had pizza.

This is the closest i've gotten to italy. Love the vongole and the clams were alr soaked in bianco so it taste goooood.

And the tiramisu shiok!

Now, who wants to go back there with me again? Or on a pasta trail? :)

Curry Fish Head

The family drove up North for some curry fish head, recommended by dad's friend. It's at Bishan st 21/22 blk 184/284 i rly cant rmb. But it's either or so just see which pieces fix the jigsaw!

It's nice but not one of the best i've tasted definitely. What i think is nicer, is the signature tofu at the back. DAMN GOOD. Fried till the right amount of crisp and the inside is still soft! :)

Momiji

Aunt bought me dinner at Momiji Jap Restaurant and it was surprisingly filled. I never expect this place to be so popular since city square itself is kinda blah. I took like at most ten mins to finish walking the levels.

Okay la, the buffet spread wasn't extensive but satisfying enough. They have few of my favourite food, like the hotpot soup thing (idk what is it called and dont feel like googling it), salmon sashimi, taco balls, chawanmushi, snow crab, baked oysters and cakes.

The snow crab not very sweet and abit small thus a hassle to pry open. I LOVE the soup. A must have for every jap buffet!!! It keeps making you want more. Sashimi also so-so.

The cakes were average, nothing very wow except that they look pretty. There's always room for dessert, so i would always make it a point to try all desserts. The cream puff and the mochi, and the tart like thing are nice. Nice like the "i'm full but i dont mind having another one" kind, not the "omg heavenly!!" kind.

It's typically just a jap buffet restaurant with the standard jap food. So dont expect too much!

Curry Chicken Noodles.

If you think that my family eats good and overpriced food every meal, pls clear that misconception. I dont think that hawker food is overpriced. We have most of our breakfasts at hawker centres and i love hawker food. Economic and good! I know ppl who totally shun off hawker centres because they think it's dirty, beneath their class (act atas), hot and stuffy, unhygenic etc. It's really not that bad. They're just spoilt.

One of my favourite place is the hawker at kovan. I actually ONLY eat from 4 stalls there for breakfast. One of it is this teochew noodle stall facing the carpark. Forever long queue so quite easy to spot.

But i dont like teochew noodle, so i'll have their curry chicken noodle. The curry VERY SHIOK. It's not those curry with super strong curry powder smell. It's the kind they cook with hei bi i think. THINK only ah.

The chicken comes in big slices and not the dry dry kind they always use in noodles. It's like chicken rice standard kind of chicken. Then got fish cake and tau pok. But really, the curry is so good, you dont really need to have all the other ingredients! Plus i dont like tau pok. I dont think they'll serve it without any ingredients right?

Fried Fish for Dinner.

I never liked fried fish. But this zi char stall (i think it's called hao xiang, and they have a branch in amk too) near my house area was having a promotion. So we order the fried fish, i thnk sea bass. Not sea bass then red garoupa lor.

I like the soup though, salted veg tofu soup. I dont have soup cooking at home on a regular basis so having soup is refreshing :) THE ONE ON THE RIGHT, IS THE HIGHLIGHT. It's marmite chicken! Very very nice! Must try regardless you like marmite or not! :)

Vongole.

I love Vongole and this is by far the cheapest one i've tasted which taste good! Who says good italian food has to be expensive? The clams were fresh and the pasta not soggy at all.

This is from a coffee shop at Siglap. The older generation calls it the "old siglap market" coffee shop. It's just beside the supermarket! Not too sure about the history of the stall. But this taste good, so that information is redundant :)

Double Tasty Crispy Chicken Burger.

McDonald's is my most accessible fast food and one of my favourite i could eat them everyday! Most importantly they have delivery and it's so bloody convenient, except that when the weather is bad they dont deliver.

This is their latest product and I LOVE IT. I've always liked mcspicy but as the name suggests, it's too spicy for me! But i love the chicken so i would always tahan and eat it. This is the answer to my prayers man. I call this the McNonSpicy. Plus i like the sauce. McSpicy uses mayo and i've recently stopped eating mayo, but no mayo makes it very dry so... yeah.

I hope this item is on the menu and not just one of their seasonal burgers! :)

Avalon again.

I know i always say i dont go to ladies night. It was true. I really rarely attend ladies night. But since it's the first time Avalon gonna have their ladies night on wed, we popped by.

Make a guess, what make up i have on?

Love this tube bustier dress from Stradivarius! The colour is just so pretty i think i might just wear it to death. And it comes with pockets! Belt came with the dress and black/gold clutch from Ldn. Wore it with my bling bling gold heels :)

It's been what, 5 mths since i've been inside. The last time i went i think i liked it there, very comfortable and the music&crowd both good! Never liked too crowded clubs or rowdy crowds.

The music was DAMN good. But the crowd was too weak. I hope more people would go there on weds in future! (not like i would go anymore due to work commitment) And we totally took podium dancing to a whole new lvl. New lvl = rather empty dancefloor.

We left for my lao di fang later. That place would NEVER disappoint :)

Lay's Peking Duck w Sauce and Tao Kae Noi Pizza.

Got them from Suvarnabhumi Airport cos i have a little time to kill at Family Mart. I used to eat alot of Tao Kae Noi crispy seaweed in Tom Yum Goong flavour! It's really unhealthy so being a healthcare worker i've subconsciously become slight more health conscious. And this didnt disappoint leh. I think the pizza taste is pretty distinct! Combination of the bread, tomato sauce and cheese. I wish i could find them in sg.

This Lay's Peking Duck w Sauce. Okay la honestly i couldnt taste it. But still have to give it credit for tasting good. Dont think can get in sg also!

If i can find them in sg, i'll do a post.

Jane Thai

The family was craving for some thai food and after hearing about this place over the radio, we decided to pop by. It's at Simpang Bedok, which is relatively convenient for and familiar to us easties.

It's a decent sized shop with lacquered wooden dining tables and chairs. Went through the menu and we ordered a couple of dishes to go with rice.

The bandung came with petals in it which enhanced the taste of the drink.

Thai fish cake was okay, not too spicy. And the Kang Kong in the background IS DAMN GOOD. Not sambal kangkong but bean sauce kangkong. It's really refreshing and makes the crunchy kangkong taste really really fresh!

Basil leaf chicken a bit too spicy for my liking. But i like long beans. This one's a bit rubbery. There's the rubbery long beans and the non-rubbery kinds. I prefer the non-rubbery kinds. Maybe it has smth to do with the way it's cooked? Idk.

Grilled squid. Quite close to the one i had from a streetside hawker stall in Bangkok but still not as good definitely. This is good enough and would be better if it was slightly softer.

Go check it out!

Salmon Run Pancakes

I haven't been doing much lately so got down to the highly raved Strictly Pancakes at 44A Prinsep Street for some pancakes (duh).

Had already checked out its menu online the night before, they have sweet pancakes and savoury pancakes. For my self-proclaimed undying love for smoked salmon, I ordered the Salmon Run with rum and raisin butter.

Had a chocolate peanut butter shake to go with it. It's really just blended reese peanut butter shake. But I LOVEEE smoke salmon and this did not disappoint. The fluffy pancakes were however a bit too much for me. Didn't really like the maple syrup that they serve, but the rum and raisin butter was something new to me.

I would wanna go back and try their sweet pancakes!

Norwegian Breakfast Set.

Finally the weather was good enough to head down to Wild Honey!

I checked online and saw that Norwegian was off the menu. I admit I was kinda disappointed because I love smoked salmon anything. Had already decided the night before that I would get the Scandinavian. From my understanding it's salmon and rosti? Well, at least there's still salmon.

But boy was I elated when I saw that they have the Norwegian breakfast set in their menu flashed across the screen of their iPad in the shop! So ordered that together with a glass of iced wild mocha dolce and a plate of pan-fried goat cheese salad to share.

I should start off with the mocha. Okay la, I'm not a huge fan of coffee. So I can only say that it taste good enough for my picky tastebuds.

The goat cheese salad, I really like it! I think it's hard to get pan-fried any cheese in Singapore? The last time I had it was when I was in Germany. And I love cheese. So I'm kinda biased. It comes with slabs of cheese as well as portions of toast, minus the sides. I like the texture of the toast, just the right amount of crunch! Like it more than the toasts the breakfast sets come served with. And the salad is served with tomatoes and rocket veg. Not a fan of rocket because they taste a little bitter. BUT the salad sauce made up for everything :)

Now my main course!

It's two poached eggs wrapped with smoked salmon, served on oatmeal toast with avocados and asparagus and dazzled with hollandaise sauce. The egg is a little overcooked though, hard and perhaps I've had too many eggs that day. But I absolutely love the smoked salmon + fish roe + asparagus combo. Like all my favorite food combined together! The toast was a little tough and I don't really like avocado like that. Other than that, it's really yummy! Would definitely order it again after ive tried everything on their menu! :P

Seared Scallop Linguini.

So this fine day I dropped by Marmalade Pantry and decided to try their main course. Have read good reviews on their desserts but just wanted to try something different!

It used to be at Palais and had to walk a little to get there. Oh it was a gloomy day and we decided not to risk it so we sacrificed Wild Honey.

Despite being allergic to prawns, it couldn't stop this prawn based dish from catching my attention. I love prawns. Linguini in tiger prawn bisque accompanied with scallops and prawns.

Can't help but feel that this is fusion pasta? Is this? The soup is filled with lots of tiny dried prawns, taste a little like prawn noodle soup minus the taste of pork and much much richer.

So yes, it's an extremely prawn-y Asian pasta. I would like to think it's Asian. Would love to have this once a week! If only I could splurge on food everyday.

Brozeit.

Yes, Brozeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant! As we dropped by only because we were to tired to walk any further, plus we just ate, so we only ordered a pint of Paulaner and some snacks to share.

I really love the wedges! Go try it! It's sprinkled with some spice which i really dunno what. I dont cook so i'm really quite bad at identifying spices.

Some pancakes if i rmb correctly. The jam is awesome, i think it's homemade. It comes in chunks and not diabetic sweet kind.

We sat at the second level (somerset) so we could literally look down and see what other ppl are eating. I noticed quite alot of ppl ordered the pork knuckles, some even having one all to themselves! I'll assume that that is their best seller.

I did look through the menu and i saw that they have curry wurst. I think it's $20 odd. Sounds pretty reasonable and it looks good from the picture! I think i would come back to try it! I'm missing German wursts alot :)
